Fridley, MN (KROC-AM News) - The victim of a recent hit and run in the Twin Cities has died from her injuries.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says the woman had been hospitalized in critical condition since the evening of February 13th but succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday. She has been identified as 68-year-old Janice Hawkins of Fridley.

She was found injured and lying in the street after Fridley Police and the Fridley Fire Department responded to a report concerning a person who had been struck by a vehicle. The investigation determined Hawkins was attempting to cross the street when she was hit by the vehicle and the driver fled the scene.

A news release says the suspect vehicle was identified and located shortly after the crash. No one has been arrested or charged in the case but investigators are also not looking for any suspects. The statement goes on to say that in order to protect the integrity of the investigation, no further information will be shared at this time.
