Minnesota Woman Hurt in Ambulance Crash Dies from Injuries
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Minnesota woman injured in a motorcycle-ambulance crash last month had died from her injuries.
The State Patrol responded to the crash on the afternoon of July 22 at the intersection of Hwy. 65 and 109th Ave. in Blaine. The state crash report indicated the motorcycle, traveling north on Hwy. 65, struck an ambulance that was making a right hand turn across traffic with its emergency lights on to respond to a call.
A news release issued this week from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner says the passenger on the motorcycle, identified 58-year-old Loretta Marie Egge of Isanti, died from her injuries three days after the crash at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis. Egge’s cause of death was described as “Multiple blunt force injuries due to motorcycle versus ambulance collision.”
The motorcycle driver and Loretta’s husband 57-year-old Jeffrey Reed Egge was also critically injured in the crash. A Caring Bridge page for the couple says Jeffery is continuing to recover from his injuries at a Twin Cities hospital.
A passenger in the ambulance at the time of the crash, identified as 42-year-old Jennifer Marie Olson of Chetek, WI, was also hurt but was treated for her injuries at the scene. The ambulance driver, 27-year-old Joseph Conor Shea of New Brighton, was not hurt.
The ambulance-motorcycle collision caused the motorcycle to also strike a minivan then an SUV. The occupants of those vehicles were not hurt.
