Blaine, MN (KROC-AM News)- A four-vehicle crash that involved an ambulance and motorcycle severely injured two Minnesotans Saturday afternoon.

The State Patrol responded to the crash at the intersection of Hwy. 65 and 109th Ave. Northeast in Blaine. The crash was reported shortly before 5 p.m. 

The state crash report indicates the ambulance had its lights and sirens activated and was traveling north to respond to a call. The crew was canceled while entering the lane for a left turn onto 109th when it was dispatched to another call.

The ambulance re-activated its lights and siren and attempted to turn across traffic to eastbound 109th Ave. when it struck a northbound motorcycle. The ambulance-motorcycle collision caused the motorcycle to then strike a minivan then an SUV. 

The motorcycle operator, identified as 57-year-old Jeffrey Reed Egge of Isanti and his passenger, identified as 58-year-old Loretta Marie Egge of Isanti, were transported from the scene to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with what are described as life-threatening injuries. 

A passenger in the ambulance, identified as 42-year-old Jennifer Marie Olson of Chetek, WI, was also hurt in the crash but was treated for her injuries at the scene. The ambulance driver, 27-year-old Joseph Conor Shea of New Brighton, was not hurt. 

The occupants of the van and SUV hit by the motorcycle were not hurt. The motorcycle occupants were not wearing helmets and alcohol was not involved in the four-vehicle crash, the state crash report says.
