(KROC-AM News) - A respected economic report continues to find that business supply managers are very optimistic about Minnesota’s economic outlook over the next few months. The May edition of the monthly Mid-America Business Conditions Survey put the state’s overall economic index at a robust 64.2, which was up from the already strong reading of 63.6 in April.

The strongest component of the index was new orders at 75.6, while the production and sales component was also very healthy at 69.1. The report also indicated strength in the employment component, which was put at 63.6 in May even though Minnesota’s job growth rate has been well below the national average.

The index is based on a scale of 0 to 100, with any reading over 50 considered an indicator of future growth.
