If there’s one thing the holidays are really good at, it's that it's basically a free pass for indulgence. Extra cookies? Yes. Second helping? Obviously. A festive drink in your hand before noon? No judgement here.

And according to a new report, we’re all very much on the same page when it comes to what we’re sipping this time of year.

A fresh study highlighted by Food & Wine shows that hot chocolate is officially the most searched-for holiday drink in the United States, leading in 13 states… but not in Minnesota.

Close behind on the national list? Apple cider and the ever-popular espresso martini. Honestly, I wouldn’t turn down a sip of any of the three.

How did they figure it out? No, they don't go dumpster diving to see which bottles you're buying - don't worry. Researchers used 12 months of Google Trends data to see what festive drinks people were actually searching for across all 50 states.

What’s especially interesting is how different the preferences are depending on where you live.

The South wins for variety, with everything from French 75s to Winter Aperol Spritzes popping up as top searches. Meanwhile, up north, we’re staying on brand. Cold weather, long nights, we’re obviously reaching for warm, comforting drinks.

New Report Reveals Minnesota’s Most Popular Holiday Drink: No surprises here.

Our favorite holiday drink is the Hot Toddy - a cozy classic that feels like a warm blanket in beverage form, perfect for thawing frozen fingers after a chilly walk or curling up with a book by the fire. And now I want a hot toddy lol.

So the real question is…
What’s your go-to holiday drink?
