This Holiday Drink Is Now Minnesota’s Top Choice In 2025

Minnesotans love a good holiday tradition, and this year’s most-ordered festive drink is one that's a classic. After months of chilly nights and plenty of taste-testing, the Land of 10,000 Lakes has officially crowned its favorite sip this holiday season.

Here in Minnesota, where holiday cheer flows as freely as hot dish at a potluck, one cocktail has earned its place as the life of every festive party. With a recipe that's charmingly classic, this drink has become the unofficial toast of the season.

There is no shortage of festive drinks during the holiday season, and a new survey says Minnesota's favorite Christmas cocktail is a tried-and-true holiday classic-- is it one of your favorites, too?

Survey Reveals Minnesota’s Top Christmas Cocktail Choice

When it comes to the holidays, getting together with family and friends is something we love to do-- and when we do, Minnesotans also LOVE to have a festive drink to go along with it, right?

Many of us across the Land of 10,000 Lakes will welcome the holidays by getting together with family and friends again this year. And, we'll likely be clinking a few glasses, too. That's the word from this new Alcohol.Org survey, which has come up with the Most Popular Christmas Cocktail in Each State. They surveyed over 3,000 people to compile their favorite holiday drink list.

The Holiday Drink Minnesota Loves More Than Any Other

And here in the North Star State, the survey says our favorite holiday drink is... eggnog! That's right, that traditional Christmas classic, made with heavy cream or milk, raw eggs, sugar, spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and/or vanilla, and light rum, tops the list of Christmas cocktails. It's also the most popular holiday drink across the entire country this year, the survey noted.

I don't doubt the popularity of eggnog during the holidays, although I do take exception to the survey also listing it as the most popular holiday drink in my home state of Wisconsin. When I was a kid growing up, the most popular holiday drink at our house was a Tom and Jerry! (Which is similar to eggnog, but with both rum AND brandy and a spicy, creamy batter instead of eggs.)
