The State Department of Natural Resources is reporting that Minnesota hunters registered about 102,000 deer through the second weekend of the 2014 firearm deer hunting season.

That’s about 31,000 lower than the total reported through the second weekend of the hunt last year. The overall harvest, which includes special hunts and the archery season, is up to 115,000 deer. That’s down about 22-percent from a year ago.

While the firearm deer hunting season concluded in much of the state last weekend, the late-season in southeastern Minnesota will be held this Saturday and Sunday.
