MN Senator Hurt in Snowmobile Crash Reported by Rochester Woman
Alexandria, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a Rochester woman reported a snowmobile crash that injured a state Senator over the weekend.

A news release from the western-Minnesota law enforcement agency says deputies and first responders were called to the crash site shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday. The snowmobile crash was reported about 200 yards from the shore of Lake Ida, which is about nine miles north of Alexandria.
Emergency responders learned a passenger on the sled was injured following the crash. He was identified as 49-year-old Torrey Westrom. Westrom serves as Senator for Senate District 12, which covers several counties in western Minnesota.
Authorities say Westrom was riding on the back of a snowmobile driven by a 13 year-old-boy when the sled struck what was described as a packed snowdrift and caused Westrom to be thrown from the machine.
Authorities say the Republican lawmaker who complained of chest pain at the scene was brought to an area hospital for observation. The 13-year-old operating the snowmobile was not hurt.
