St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A major highway project in the Rochester area has made a list of high-priority infrastructure projects included in a nearly $80 million federal grant request.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking funding through the federal Rebuilding America grant program. $13.4 million has been requested to help fund the reconstruction of the I-90 and Highway 52 interchange just southeast of Rochester. The overall price tag of the project is estimated at $25 million and it is currently on the MnDOT construction schedule for 2024.

The state is also seeking $50 million in federal grant money to help fund the expansion of Highway 14 to four lanes in the New Ulm area and $15 million for a major project in Anoka County. Gets anticipated the federal agency in charge of the program will award about $900 million in grants for infrastructure projects nationwide this year.
