More Funding for Dodge Center to Owatonna Highway 14 Project

The planned expansion of Highway 14 between Owatonna and Dodge Center is getting another boost from the state’s Corridors of Commerce initiative.

The program was created by the state legislature a few years ago in an effort to accelerate infrastructure projects on congested and deteriorating highways throughout Minnesota. The third round of funding awarded through the initiative and cost savings realized by the State Department of Transportation totals $70 million and will benefit 13 projects.

The expansion of Highway 14 will receive $7.3 million to be used for the acquisition of right-of-way. The Corridors of Commerce program previously provided $12 million to expand a 2 ½ mile section of Highway 14 just east of Owatonna to four lanes.
