Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Police Department is investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a mother and son at a Rochester apartment complex.

That’s according to a news release issued by the department Friday morning. Officers found the bodies on Thursday after responding to a welfare check. 

Police made the discovery at the River Glen Apartments at 124 Sandbar Ct. Northeast.

Police Find Gun at Scene of Mother & Son Murder-Suicide at Rochester Apartment

The bodies of the man and woman are believed to have been at the apartment, which was the son’s, for a lengthy period of time, the news release says.

Police say the son was 30 and the mother was 54. Responding officers found gunshot wounds on both bodies.

The news release says officers recovered a handgun near the son’s body. The names of the mother and son are being withheld pending family notification. 

Police say they are no other people are being sought in connection to the apparent murder suicide.
