
(UPDATE) Police Report Arrest For Fatal Shooting
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Police made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in the city last week.
Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson reported late Monday afternoon that 31-year-old Ibrahim Abukaar Abdi was taken into custody today in connection with the homicide that was reported on the morning of July 3 in the 1000 block of 41st Street Northwest. The statement indicated Abdi could face second-degree murder and first-degree assault charges. Grayson also stated that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.

The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office today identified the shooting victim as 35-year-old Sadik A. Yusuf. Rochester police earlier reported that he was pronounced dead at the scene after officers responded to reports that a man had been shot outside an apartment building in the area near the Police Department’s North Station and the Watson Sports Complex.

The initial police reports on the deadly shooting indicated that it did not appear to be a random act. Investigators also asked the public, particularly residents of the area, to contact the Police Department if they witnessed anything suspicious.

Authorities have identified the victim of a shooting that occurred in Rochester last week.
The Rochester Police Department has released very limited information about the deadly incident, which occurred in the 1000 block of 41st Street Northwest on the morning of July 3. The crime scene was located near the Police Department’s North Station and the Watson Soccer Fields.

A news release indicated the victim was shot and fatally wounded outside of an apartment building. Officers responded to the property around 11:30 in the morning and immediately administered life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office today identified the victim as 35-year-old Sadik A. Yusuf.

So far, Rochester police have not announced any arrests in connection with the deadly shooting. Investigators have asked members of the public, particularly those living in the area, to contact the Police Department if they witnessed any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the fatal incident.
