The criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Monday, says officers responded to the report of a person in crisis pointing a gun at a person’s face shortly before noon on July 3.

The court document does not say how long the apparent standoff with Rochester police lasted.

13 Firearms, Large Sum of Ammo Seized After Northwest Rochester Standoff

Responding officers set up a perimeter and attempted to make contact with the suspect who had initially refused to come out of the home in northwest Rochester, the complaint says.

Officers learned the armed man in the home, identified as 24-year-old Remy Hugo Rosenberg, had texted a witness saying he did not intend to hurt anyone. Police tried and failed to contact him by phone, the charges say.

Officers then began making announcements and at one point, Rosenberg appeared in a window of the home saying he was “pleading the fifth.” The Rochester man then vanished from law enforcement’s view.

Police continued making announcements and attempted to engage Rosenberg in conversation. He eventually came out of the home and was arrested without incident, the charges say.

Officers were granted a warrant to search the home and found 13 firearms, including a long-barreled handgun the victim reported being threatened with.

Law enforcement also seized a large sum of ammunition, and several firearm accessories, the complaint says.

The charges indicate the gun threat occurred after the victim attempted to talk with Rosenberg about his medication.

The victim told police Rosenberg was “ranting about conspiracies” at the time of the gun threat and that they feared for the safety of others inside of the home.

Rosenberg was charged Monday with second-degree assault and terroristic threats. He’s being held on $50,000 conditional bail and is due back in court later this month.
