Rochester Man Gets 48 Months for Machete Robbery
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man who was sent to prison earlier this year for domestic violence has received a 48-month sentence for robbing a man of a pair of machetes last year.
Rochester Man Sentenced to 48 Months for Robbery
Olmsted County court records show that 52-year-old Albert Lucky Williams has admitted to a felony count of simple robbery. Under the terms of a plea agreement, a first-degree robbery charge was dismissed.
Victim Reported Being Attacked by Two Men
The criminal complaint in the case says Williams and another man were arrested in July of last year after Rochester police responded to a report of an assault at a business along 4th Street Southeast. When the officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim, who stated that he had been attacked by two unknown males.
Machetes Taken During Rochester Robbery
According to the court document, the victim indicated that his attackers were speaking to a friend of his when they approached him and claimed that he owed them money. The victim told police that one of the men struck him on the head before they ran off in the direction of the Mayo Civic Center with his two machetes.

The criminal complaint says investigators were able to identify Williams and the other suspect, 44-year-old Deangelo Martez Rucker, through surveillance camera video that recorded the incident. Following his arrest, Williams told investigators that Rucker had discarded the machetes in a grassy area near the site of the robbery.
Robbery Sentence Comes After Domestic Violence Conviction
Williams was sentenced to 48 months in prison for the robbery conviction. The sentence will be served concurrently with the three-year prison sentence he was given for his convictions in the earlier domestic assault case.
Rucker was charged with first-degree aggravated robbery for his alleged involvement in the crime. His case is still pending.
