North Broadway Traffic Shift is Scheduled For This Weekend
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The ongoing North Broadway reconstruction project in Rochester will be shifting to a new phase this weekend.
The Rochester Public Works Department says that beginning Saturday, traffic will be shifted onto the new pavement on the southbound lanes of the busy four-lane roadway to accommodate the reconstruction of the northbound lanes. Traffic will remain limited to one lane in each direction between 13th Street Northwest and Riverview Heights Drive Northeast.
A news release on the change says east-west access will remain open at 19th Street, 16 1/4 Street, 16th Street, and 14th Street Northeast, while access to 17th Street Northeast will be fully closed. The sidewalk on the east side of North Broadway will be closed from 19th Street to 14th Street Northeast, while the sidewalk on the west side will remain open.

A detour will remain in place from 17th Street Northeast that utilizes 2nd Avenue Northeast to access 14th Street Northeast.
The North Broadway reconstruction project began in late March and is scheduled to be completed by July of next year. The first phase of the work completely closed the busy north-south route between 13th Street and 16th Street to allow for the full reconstruction of the intersection at 14th Street Northeast. That portion of the project was completed in early May.
