Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Construction work on Olmsted County's new "COVID-19 ready" courtroom has been completed.

Kraus Anderson, the general contractor for the project, today announced it has finished creating the temporary courtroom in the Olmsted County Annex Building on the south side of 4th Street Southeast across the street from the Government Center in downtown Rochester. The new courtroom was developed to help the Olmsted County Court system deal with a backlog of trials while observing COVID-19 safety protocols.

The new courtroom facility is located on the second floor of the Annex Building, which was shelled in when the county built the structure to house its jail work-release program. A news release says the funding for the $2.8 million project, which includes future office space, came from the federal CARES Act enacted last year in response to the pandemic.
