U.S. forces working with a five Arab allies attacked 200 ISIS targets in Syria Monday night and Tuesday.

Both Tom Ostrom and Andy Brownell expressed surprise that President Obama moved so quickly to launch a major air offensive against the Islamic extremist group after many analysts predicted it would take a number of weeks for the U.S. military to act on the President's strategy to contain and destroy the growing ISIS threat.

The topic was among those explored during Tuesday's Rochester Today show on KROC-AM.

Tom, who always comes to the KROC studio armed with is famous "list," also delved into a recent decision by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which refused to consider the case of some California students who were punished for wearing shirts featuring the U.S. flag to school on Cinco de Mayo.  The appeals court sided with school administrators who feared the patriotic display would result in trouble by fomenting unrest among Latino students, but as Ostrom reported, a member of the federal appeals court panel also blasted the majority ruling with a blistering dissenting opinion.
