A news release issued by the city says the work began on Monday and that the schedule will be weather dependent.
The maintenance involves completing recommended repairs at some of the parking garages to extend the useful lives of the parking structures.
The news release says the repair work is standard and part of a regular four year cycle that involves a condition assessment and completion of recommended repairs.
To accommodate the repair schedule, two of the city’s downtown parking ramps will see a temporary reduction in available parking spaces.

The City of Rochester operates six parking garages and seven surface lots in downtown Rochester.

Along with the repairs, the city will also close downtown ramps, usually on weekends, for washing and minor maintenance.
City officials indicate the Center St. Parking Ramp will see the most disruptions related to repair projects.
Phase one of the work, which is scheduled to wrap up by early May, will restrict available parking spaces in the ramp to approximately 100. The rest of the project will be conducted in phases to keep the ramp open, officials say.
As many as 350 spaces are expected to available through the rest of the work, which is scheduled to wrap up by October. Officials recommend using the 3rd St. Parking Ramp and Ramp 6 as alternatives.
Phased repair work is also planned for the 2nd St. Southwest Ramp. City officials say the work will have a minimal disruption on available parking spaces.
