Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - While temperatures in southeastern Minnesota climbed into the low to mid-60s Saturday afternoon, a large area of northern Minnesota was experiencing its first measurable snowstorm of the season.
The latest reports from the National Weather Service show a band of 3 to 4 inches of snow stretched across the state from near Detroit Lakes, through Park Rapids and to the Grand Rapids area. Reports of 1 to 2 inches of accumulation were common from the Brainerd Lakes area to Duluth. Much of the region was under a winter weather advisory.
The weather conditions have been much more pleasant in southeastern Minnesota where periods of sunshine helped push the afternoon high temperatures above 60-degrees in most areas. The warmest reading was 65-degrees in La Crescent, while Winona, Austin, and Albert Lea reported in at 64-degrees. The unofficial high temperature at the Rochester Airport was 63-degrees.
Much cooler air is headed this way. After an overnight low around 30-degrees, National Weather Service Forecasters are predicting the high temperatures will on reach the low 40s over the next several days.
