Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Bus at Minnesota Intersection
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in the Twin Cities are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a transit bus.
Limited information is available, however a Metro Transit Spokesperson said the fatal incident happened shortly before 12:45 Wednesday morning in St. Paul.
The preliminary investigation indicates the fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Macalester St. and Ford Pkwy in southwestern St. Paul. The bus was traveling east when it struck the male pedestrian, who was crossing in front of the vehicle.
First responders administered life-saving measures but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian’s name has not been released.
The bus driver, who’s name also has not been released, will be placed on administrative leave, per standard procedure, according to Metro Transit. Officials did not say Wednesday morning if any riders were on the bus at the time of the fatality.
The Metro Transit Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the deadly traffic incident.
The collision victim is the second person to die after being struck by a Metro Transit bus this year. 11-year-old Mahad Ahmed Osman lost his life after he was hit by a bus in Brooklyn Park on the morning of Jan. 31.
