Federal Jury Convicts Three Minnesotans in Child Neglect Case
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- A federal jury has convicted three Minnesotans in a child neglect case.
That’s according to a news release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Minnesota on Tuesday. Jurors handed down the verdict on Feb. 16 following a six-day trial.
The defendants in the case are 55-year-old Robin John Roy, 29-year-old Nicole Robyn Roy and 36-year-old Harrison Edwin Dudley Sr. They all reside on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota.
Court records accuse them of willingfully ignoring their duty to provide the children with necessary food, clothing, shelter, health care and supervision.
The prosecution says the deprivation resulted in “substantial harm” to the children’s mental, physical and emotional health. All three were convicted of a count of felony child neglect.
The jury also convicted Nicole Roy and Dudley of felony child endangerment. An FBI investigation resulted in the charges.
The sentencing hearing for the three individuals has not yet been scheduled.
