
Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Train in Owatonna
Owatonna, MN (KROC-AM News) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Friday afternoon in Owatonna.
A news release issued by the Owatonna Police Department says officers responded shortly after 12:30 p.m. to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a train. The deadly incident occurred at railroad tracks in the vicinity of North Street and Riverside Avenue.
Few details have been released, and Owatonna police say the incident remains under investigation. Information about the victim has not been disclosed.
The police statement indicates the railroad crossing where the fatality occurred may remain closed until late Friday night due to the ongoing investigation, which is a joint operation involving the Owatonna Police Department and Union Pacific Railroad Police.
