Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Not only did someone steal a car in Rochester Wednesday but they also took the dog that was inside.

Rochester police say the owner got his car back - but not his pet. The owner was offering a reward.

Rochester Police Capt. Casey Moilanen said Thursday afternoon  the dog was located at the former truck stop in Dexter.

The owner left the vehicle running when he went inside the Kwik Trip store at 4760 Commercial Dr. SW around 2:30 PM. He came out and found the car and dog were gone.

The car was located in Eden Prairie Wednesday night but there was no sign of the missing dachshund.

Rochester police said the victim - an 80-year-old man from Missouri - “is very concerned about his dog and he is willing to provide a $5,000 reward for the person who gets his dog back for him. “
