Pine Island Residents Alerted About Search For Suspect
Pine Island, MN (KROC-AM News) - Some Pine Island residents received an alert on their cell phones today concerning the search for a suspect in a domestic assault case.
The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office says the CodeRED alert went out to subscribers in southwest and southeast Pine Island after a deputy responded to a possible domestic assault situation around 3 PM and a male suspect fled on foot. A news release says the deputy sustained a non-life-threatening injury that did not require immediate medical attention.
The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office established a perimeter to search for the man with assistance from the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, Rochester Police Department, Zumbrota Police Department, and the State Patrol. The assistance included K9 officers and drones.
The alert sent out to citizens indicated authorities did not believe the man was a danger to the general public. As of 5 PM, the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office indicated the search effort had concluded, but it’s unclear if the man was apprehended. The update did say he is known to law enforcement and there is no threat to the public.
