Popular Booth Now Increasing Prices 50 Percent At Minnesota State Fair
The Minnesota State Fair is set to kick off its 2024 run later this month, and one popular booth just announced that it was raising its prices by 50 percent.
The Great Minnesota Get-Together has been a summer tradition here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes for almost as many years as Minnesota has been around. According to the official Minnesota State Fair website, the first Fair was held way back in 1859, just a year after Minnesota became a state.
Fun fact: Did you know the state fair used to be held at various cities around Minnesota? That's right, before the permanent location on fairgrounds in Falcon Heights (midway between Minneapolis and St. Paul) it used to rotate locations, with various versions having been held in Rochester, Red Wing, Winona, Owatonna, Minneapolis, and St. Paul.

This year's State Fair will kick off on Thursday, August 22nd and run through Labor Day, September 4th. And while various vendors are readying all the new food and drink items that will make their debut this year, ONE classic booth said they're raising their prices... by 50 percent!
That's the word from the All-You-Can-Drink Milk Stand, operated by the Midwest Dairy Association, a group based in St. Paul that represents dairy farmers across a 10-state region. According to the Midwest Dairy Association, prices at the stand will be going up for the first time in 9 years, increasing from $2 to $3 a cup of cold, 2% white, or 1% chocolate milk.
The increase reflects the increased cost of labor and supplies facing dairy farmers across the Bold North, this BringMeTheNews story noted. The American Dairy Association said it originally started that familiar stand as a tent on what was then-called Machinery Hill and charged a dime for a bottomless cup of white milk.
The price eventually increased through the years until it hit $1 a cup roughly 20 years ago. That lasted until 2015 when the price increased to $2 a cup, and is now increasing to $3. Either way, paying $3 for a bottomless cup of milk is STILL one of the best (and probably THE best) bargains at the State Fair, right? And, of course, it's a must-have if you're going to dive into a bucket of Sweet Martha's Cookies or some Mini Donuts!
