Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester School District has released two preliminary drafts for the redrawing of school attendance boundaries following the future opening of the public school system's fourth middle school.

District officials stress the maps are still very much in draft form and far from final. There are two maps because while the school district is pursuing the purchase and annexation of the Hart Farm property in southwest Rochester for the planned Middle School and possibly a future high school and elementary school campus, it is also studying properties in northwest Rochester at the request of the City administration. Each map represents preliminary proposals for revamping the boundaries based on the two possible locations.

The school district says the release of the preliminary drafts is being done to maintain transparency in the process. Once the location of the new middle school is finalized, the district will continue with more in-depth work on the middle and elementary school boundaries. At that point, the school district plans to engage families and the wider community by seeking feedback on what will be a more established draft of the proposed boundary changes.
