Rochester Police Lt. Frank Ohm said an Olmsted County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a Pontiac that was reported stolen in the area of 1st St. and 11th Ave. in southeast Rochester around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Ohm says a Rochester Police Officer in the area also spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull over the male driver in the area of 1st. The officer pursued the vehicle but called it off when the vehicle’s speed reached between 70 and 75 mph at the intersection of 7th St. and 11th Ave. Northwest, according to Ohm. Officers searched the area but could not locate the vehicle on Tuesday.

The next day, officers responded to a medical call in the 1,000 block of 40th St. Southwest involving a man and woman in a parked vehicle. Responding officers found the man sleeping in the vehicle that matched the description of the one reported stolen and involved in the Tuesday afternoon pursuit.

Police released the female passenger before a search of the vehicle recovered a pair of tool bags containing approximately $1,100 worth of tools that were stolen from the Rochester Lowes store.
