The Quirky Competition You Didn’t Know Minnesota Hosted
This weekend, there's going to be a Minnesota state-wide competition taking place that you didn't know you needed. I wasn't aware until recently that a competition like this existed or that there's a whole league made up of people from around the US.
Other states will be hosting their own state-wide competitions. I believe the winners from those competitions will then be able to advance to the regional competitions, which happened in late spring/early summer of this year.
From there, it looks like the winners of the regional competitions will then advance to nationals. It's a huge deal!

Now, this could be anything. There are competitions like this for dance, cheer, and chess, to name just a few. But none of those are what this competition is all about.

Minnesota Yo-Yo Competition in Minneapolis
This weekend in Minneapolis, they will be hosting the state-wide Yo-Yo competition! I told you, I didn't know you needed to know about this. This is awesome.
Yes, it may seem a little silly, but the people who can really do yo-yo tricks are quite impressive. I can barely get a yo-yo to come back up to me, let alone do a trick with it.
Competitors in the 2025 Minnesota State Yo-Yo Contest (which is put on through the National Yo-Yo League) will compete at the Underground Music Venue in Minneapolis (near Target Field) on Sunday, October 5th from 10 AM - 3 PM.
Yo-yoers put on a 1-2 minute performance and are judged based on "technical ability and performance skills."
Anyone is welcome to watch, so if you have a kid who is into stuff like yo-yos, they'll probably get a kick out of this competition.
