Red Wing Man Charged With Attacking Deputy
Red Wing, MN (KROC-AM News) - Bail has been set at $250,000 for the man accused of assaulting a Goodhue County Sheriff’s Department Deputy.
40-year-old Salvatore Stella was formally charged Friday in Goodhue County court with felony assault and other charges connected to the attack on Sheriff’s Sergeant Jason Johnson. He was serving some civil court papers concerning an eviction order against Stella on Wednesday when the man allegedly assaulted him.
Officials say Sergeant Johnson suffered significant injuries when he was allegedly struck on the head with an object, choked and kicked by Stella.
He was transported to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Red Wing, where he was treated for his wounds and released the following day.
