Rochester: Are You Ready For Some Fresh, Greek Food?
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It’s been around nearly 60 years and organizers were determined not to let the COVID-19 pandemic throw a wrench into their plans to hold the event again this year.
The Original Greek Festival in Rochester has been held during the final weekend of August since 1963 and it kicks off again Friday.
But like other events affected by the pandemic, it will be far different from past years.
There will be no gatherings, no music, no entertainment, no dancing - but there will be food. Organizers have announced the first-ever DRIVE-THRU GREEKFEST! According to the Greek Orthodox Church that sponsors the event, volunteers “will be directing traffic, handing out menus to cars, answering questions, providing entertainment, and cooking your favorite authentic Greek Food dishes! You stay in your car- we do the rest!! OPA!!!”
The site is located at 703 W. Center St. Those planning to show up are asked to enter at the intersection of 7th Avenue and Center Street.
The event will run:
- Friday, August 28th 11am- 8pm
- Saturday, August 29th 11am-8pm
- Sunday, August 30th 11am – 4pm
