Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced for a felony conviction stemming from a 10-week undercover child sex solicitation sting investigation.

Undercover Rochester Police Officer Posed as 14-Year-Old Girl

Forty-three-year-old Jeremy Roger Stroth, who previously lived in Cottage Grove, was charged in July 2025 with soliciting a child or someone he believed to be a child through electronic communication to engage in sexual conduct, engaging in electronic communication relating to or describing sexual conduct with a child, and distributing material relating to or describing sexual conduct to a child through electronic communication. The charges alleged that he sent a message to an online profile depicting a 14-year-old girl who was actually an undercover Rochester police officer.

Charges Involved Sexually Explicit Messages and Photos

The criminal complaint also alleged that Stroth sent sexually explicit messages to the undercover officer almost daily from mid-May 2025 until his arrest in July 2025. He was also accused of sending a sexually explicit photo of himself and stating that he would “not say no” if the person he believed was a juvenile girl sent him a sexually explicit photo of herself.

Predatory Offender Registration Required

Stroth entered into a plea agreement in May 2026 and admitted to engaging in electronic communication relating to or describing sexual conduct with a child. The two other felony charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

This week, Stroth was sentenced to three yeas on probation and ordered to complete 34 hours of community service. He is also required to register as a predatory offender.
