Rochester Area Was the Coldest in Minnesota This Morning
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester area just experienced its first freeze of the season and the coldest night in about 5-1/2 months.
The unofficial low temperature recorded by the National Weather Service at the Rochester Airport was 29-degrees between 4 and 7 AM. That is the coldest it has been since April 28th when the early morning low was 27-degrees.
29-degrees was also one of the coldest temperatures recorded statewide Saturday morning. The unofficial reports from the National Weather Service show only Preston and Dodge Center were colder with early morning lows of 28-degrees. Most areas in northern Minnesota reported low-temperature readings in the low to mid-30s this morning.
Forecasters are predicting a mixture of rain and snow showers across southeastern Minnesota today but little or no snow accumulation is expected. The precipitation will be accompanied by southwest winds gusting to 40 miles an hour and the high temperature this afternoon may only reach 40-degrees.
Warmer weather is headed this way. The National Weather Service is predicting an afternoon high temperature near 50-degrees on Monday and by Friday the high temperature could reach 60-degrees.
