Rochester police responded to the report of two people fighting on Monday. Arriving officers spoke with the victim, who alleged he was attacked by Mohamud.

The charges say the victim was bleeding from the head. He told police that Mohamud had arrived at his apartment and appeared to be intoxicated.

Mohamud then became aggressive and punched the victim in the ribs and head, the complaint says. The victim told police Mohamud pinned him to the ground and that he ran to the bathroom for safety, however Mohamud followed him.

He said he bit Mohamud twice during the alleged altercation to defend himself. The court document also says the victim identified himself as disabled. The charges indicate Mohamud and the victim know each other.

The victim was taken to a hospital for an evaluation. Police later learned he needed stitches for three lacerations he suffered in his facial area, the complaint says.

Mohamud was at the apartment when officers arrived and was subsequently arrested. He claimed the victim hit him first, however officers did not say any visible marks on the victim’s knuckles, the charges say.

A preliminary breath test measured Mohamud’s blood alcohol concentration at 0.17, the court document states.

Mohamud was released without bail following his first court appearance Wednesday morning. He is due back in court next month.
