Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester educator has been honored with a prestigious award.

It has been announced Monica Steinmetz is one of the recipients of this year’s WEM Outstanding Educator Awards.

Steinmetz is a 6th-grade teacher at St. Francis Catholic School.

Steinmetz is sharing the 2020 Teacher Achievement Award with another Minnesota teacher. The award "recognizes exemplary teachers who support, inspire, and assist students to attain greater learning as evidenced by student achievement."

As a recipient, Steinmetz will receive $15,000 from the WEM Foundation and Synergy & Leadership Exchange. The WEM Foundation was founded in 1987 by Whitney and Elizabeth MacMillan.
