Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  Rochester Mayor Kim Norton’s veto of a city council decision dealing with the former Legend’s Bar building was overturned Monday.

The council voted 5-2 with representatives Campion and Dennis voting nay.

The council recently decided to maintain the building while redevelopment proposals for the city property are sought. That decision came after the council rejected a request to consider declaring the building a historic structure.

Norton felt the building may present a challenge to some developers who may decide against submitting a proposal. She also noted the city intended to demolish the building when it bought the property and continued maintenance costs are a waste of money.
