Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - No injuries were reported after the Rochester Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from a building at the Silver Lake Power Plant this morning.

A news release says the fire was reported around 10:50 a.m. by Rochester Public Utilities employees after they saw smoke coming from a brick auxiliary building at the south end of the property along the Zumbro River just south of Silver Lake. The responding firefighters were directed to a carpenter shop and were told everyone was out of the building.

The firefighters encountered thick smoke and traced it to smoldering debris near a large table saw. They were able to pull the debris away from the saw and into a trashcan, where it was cooled down using water and removed from the structure. The power to the saw was then disconnected and fans were set up to blow the smoke out of the building.

The damage was limited to the table saw and the smoldering debris. The cause is under investigation.
