Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Park Board Tuesday was presented with a proposal for the future use of the city’s former Fire Station #2 building at Silver Lake Park.

The current Leadership Greater Rochester group spent several months looking at possible uses. It is recommending the Park Department consider naming the site “ Silver Lake Station” and the appointment of an oversight group that would be in charge of planning and fundraising activities for its future use.

The LGR group is asking the board to consider policies that would allow public use of the building as well as hookups for food trucks.

The LGR group says its initiative had an estimated cost of $75,000, which included professional work by its members and various donations of time, money and goods.

The group heard from about 50 non-profit organizations before it began its planning phase.
