Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Minnesota lawmakers want to hear from Rochester area residents about prescription drug prices.

A Minnesota House panel has scheduled a public hearing Wednesday at the University of Minnesota Rochester campus.

The hearing will be chaired by Rochester Rep. Tina Liebling, who says it will focus on efforts to lower prescription drug prices.

Mayo Clinic professor Dr. Vincent Rajkumar will provide an overview of pharmaceutical drug prices, followed by a recap of prescription drug proposals currently on the table and a discussion of possible next steps. Eric Tichy, Mayo Clinic’s Vice-Chair of Pharmacy Supply, will give an overview of Civica, a not-for-profit generic drug and pharmaceutical company founded to address drug shortages and high prices.

The hearing will conclude with public comments on prescription drug pricing.

The meeting will be held in Room 417 at the downtown UMR campus and is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM.
