Rochester Man Accused of Brandishing Gun, Making Threat
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Attorney’s Office has charged a Rochester man accused of brandishing a firearm and threatening to shoot the brother of a woman he allegedly struck.
Charges filed Thursday say 27-year-old Liban Abdullahi struck a woman he has an unborn child with in the parking lot of the Rochester Public Utilities building after the two had gotten into a disagreement on November 1. The woman told police on November 6 that she attempted to call her brother and Abdullahi responded by brandishing a firearm and saying, “let your brother come and let him see what happens,” according to the criminal complaint.
Court records indicate Abdullahi was convicted of felony third-degree assault in a 2018 Olmsted County case, a conviction that prohibits him from possessing a firearm. Prosecutors have charged Abdullahi with a count of felony threats, a felony firearm possession violation and misdemeanor domestic assault.
Abdullahi’s bail was set at $250,000 and jail records indicate he’s in custody at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center.
