Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has worked out a plea agreement with Olmsted County prosecutors that will keep him out of prison for possessing child pornography.

44-year-old Jon Anthony Jones today entered a guilty plea to one count of possession of child pornography. In exchange, nine other felony child pornography charges were dismissed. His plea agreement also calls for a 30-day jail sentence with work-release privileges.

The criminal complaint against Jones indicates Rochester Police launched an investigation in August of last year based upon a cyber tip about child sexual abuse material being downloaded into a laptop that was located in a search warrant was executed and is Rochester home. The court document says more than 1400 images and two videos depicting children in sexual acts were found stored on the laptop.

The charges alleged some of the files were of a child between the ages of two and four engaged in sexual conduct. The complaint also stated that Jones admitted to investigators that he sought out and viewed some of the material.

Jones is scheduled to be sentenced on September 7.
