Rochester Man Admits to Possessing Child Pornography
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A plea agreement has been reached in a Rochester child pornography case.
66-year-old Gerald Giles today admitted to a felony count of possessing child pornography. He was originally charged with three counts of the crime in connection with a cyber tip received by the Rochester Police Department in August 2021.
The criminal complaint says the tip led to the execution of a search warrant at Giles home a couple of months later during which investigators located a computer tower containing the child sexual abuse materials that were described in the cyber tip from Google. Court records indicate an estimated 150 images of suspected child pornography were found on the computer's hard drive, including images of a girl as young as 10 years old engaging in sexual conduct.
Giles is scheduled to be sentenced on June 15. The plea agreement calls for a stay of adjudication and a sentence of up to five years on probation. He is currently free on $25,000 bail.
