Rochester Man Caught with Fentanyl and AR-15 Gets 7-Year Term
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man with an history of drug offenses has been sent to prison for three new convictions.
According to court records, 29-year-old Jacob Donavan Danielson was arrested over the Labor Day weekend last year after Rochester Police responded to a report of a man slumped over in the driver's seat of the vehicle parked at a local hotel. The criminal complaint in the case says a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of nearly 850 fentanyl pills along with some prescription medications. The court document also says a search of Danielson at the Olmsted County jail led to the discovery of an additional 24 fentanyl pills on his person.
He was charged with first, second, and third-degree drug sales along with first and second-degree drug possession.
Court records also show that, about two months later, Danielson was arrested under similar circumstances after he and a woman were found passed out in a car in the parking lot at a Rochester convenience store. He was later charged with two felony counts of drug possession and DWI, after police located approximately 15 grams of MDMA, about 20 pills of a psychiatric medication used to treat anxiety, and a fentanyl pill in the vehicle.
His prison sentence is also tied to a 2020 criminal investigation that led to Danielson being charged with two counts of illegal possession of a firearm and two counts of felony drug possession. In that case, court records indicate he was caught in possession of an AR-15 rifle after Rochester police viewed videos of him with the weapon that were posted on social media. The criminal complaint also indicates that he was caught with several oxycodone pills while he was being processed into the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center.
Under the terms of a plea agreement with Olmsted County prosecutors, all three cases were consolidated. Danielson entered guilty pleas to second and third-degree drug possession and one count of illegal possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a crime of violence. In exchange the other charges in all three cases were dismissed.
On Monday, Danielson was sentenced to a total of 7 years in prison for all three convictions.
