Rochester Man Sentenced to 99 Months for Child Sex Assault

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison for child sexual assault sexual convictions.

Langworthy Convicted on Two Criminal Sexual Conduct Counts

Forty-three-year-old Randy James Langworthy was handed a 99-month prison sentence in Olmsted County Court today for his conviction on two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was given credit for 117 days he has already spent in jail and will be on conditional release for 10 years after completing his prison sentence.

The case against Langworthy was presented to an Olmsted County jury during a trial held in May.

Court Documents Detail Allegations in the Case

According to court documents, Langworthy was charged in February 2024 and accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young boy beginning in June 2020 and continuing through October 2021. The criminal complaint in the case states that the victim was under the age of 12 when the sexual abuse began.

The charges alleged that Langworthy would engage in sexual activity with the victim after instructing him to watch sexually explicit videos. He was also accused of threatening to sexually abuse the victim's younger sister if the victim refused to comply.

Victim Reported Abuse to His Mother

Court documents state that the victim reported the abuse to his mother, and she instructed him to avoid Langworthy. The child told investigators that the sexual abuse, which occurred one to two times a week, continued even after he informed his mother.
