Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police officers were busy early Monday looking all over town for explosive devices.

A man who was spotted around 3:00 AM at a St. Marys Hospital parking ramp with a pellet gun pointed at his head was talked into putting the weapon down.

He then told officers he had planted bombs at schools and churches around the city.

The school district was notified and for the next several hours, buildings were checked.

One package was found at Century High School. Packages were also found at Calvary Evangelical Free and Oak Hills Wesleyan churches. Capt. John Sherwin says the packages were not explosive devices and did not pose a threat.

A message written on an envelope found at one of the sites said there was poison inside but nothing dangerous was found. Sherwin says spray-paint messages were also found at some of the sites.
