Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Police in Owatonna have busted a Rochester man for spreading and seeking child pornography online.

That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Monday. 

The charge is the result of an operation conducted by Owatonna Police this past January to identify individuals possessing, publishing, distributing or producing child sexual abuse material on social media.

The operation got started this past January. Detectives had an account on the website Kik that was in a group with other accounts that are known for seeking child sexual abuse material.

On February 27 one of the users in the group shared a video that depicted an 8-year-old girl engaging in sexual conduct, the complaint says.

Authorities traced the account’s IP address to a northwest Rochester residence and identified the user as 23-year-old Vadeem Rudenko. Law enforcement then executed a search warrant at Rudenko’s residence on March 13.

The complaint says the Rochester man admitted to using Kik to find child sexual abuse material and said he had deleted the app.

Rudenko also said he shared the video that officers saw and said he had at least 100 files depicting child sexual abuse material on his devices, the charging document says. 

Rudenko is charged with one county of felony dissemination of pornography involving a minor under the age of 14. He’s due to make his first court appearance in the case next month.
