Charges: Rochester Man Snuck into Teen Girl’s Room to Rape Her Multiple Times

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man is facing several felony charges for allegedly raping a teenage girl multiple times.

The criminal complaint, filed in Olmsted County Court on Thursday, says the alleged sexual assaults happened from June through December of last year.

One of the alleged assaults involved three other men and drug use, the charges say.

Rochester Man Accused of Raping Teen Girl Multiple Times, Obtaining Sexually-Explicit Photos

40-year-old Matthew Albert Theye is facing the following charges:

One count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct

Two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct

One count of soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct through electronic communication 

One count of engaging in electronic communication describing sexual conduct with a child. 

Rochester police interviewed the victim in March. She said she met Theye on an adult dating website and that the two communicated through Snapchat. 

The victim initially told Theye she was 18 then said her real age was 15 and Theye responded by saying he did not care, the complaint says. 

In late June or early July, the teen girl told police Theye picked her up from her home in Rochester and brought him to his residence where the two had sex, the court document alleges. 

That same night, Theye invited three of his friends to his residence and the four of them had sex with the victim while also using marijuana and cocaine, the charges say. 

Theye would then sneak into the victim’s bedroom at her home through a window and have sex with her, according to the complaint. 

She said it happened nine times and told law enforcement of one incident when she awoke to Theye raping her in August of 2024, the complaint says.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Theye’s Snapchat account and discovered nude photos of the victim as well as conversation in which Theye was talking about having sex with the victim, according to the charges. 

Theye made his first court appearance on Thursday morning. His bail was set at $100,000 and he’s due back in court next month.
