Rochester Police Arrest 2 After Gun Call at Townhome Complex
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Two men are in custody as the result of an incident involving a gun reported at a Rochester townhome complex Friday.
Rochester Police Captain Casey Moilanen said officers were called to the complex on the report of a weapons violation shortly before 6:30 p.m. He said officers were informed of a large disorderly group of kids and parents not getting along.
Upon arriving at the call in the 3000 block of 25th St. Northwest witnesses told officers that one man with a firearm tucked in his waistband and another man approached the group. The armed man showed the group the gun in his waistband before handing it to the other man with him, who then threatened the parents and kids gathered outside of the homes, Moilanen said.
Upon further investigation, officers obtained a search warrant and recovered the gun inside of a home within the complex. Police also identified the suspects as 22-year-old Christopher Brown of Rochester and 24-year-old Emmandarry David of Rochester.
Moilanen said officers identified Brown as the man who was reported to have threatened the group with the gun. He said David was identified as the man who was carrying the firearm in his waistband.
Police are referring charges of second-degree riot, second-degree assault, threats of violence and carrying a pistol without a permit against Brown. Moilanen said David is potentially facing charges of second-degree assault and threats of violence.
Both men admitted to approaching the dispute between the groups to attempt to break it up but denied having a firearm, Moilanen said. The suspects are awaiting arraignment in the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center.
