Rochester Police Arrest 2 Teens After Shooting & Massive Brawl
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester Police responded to a shooting reported in the southeastern quadrant of the city Monday evening.
A news release says officers responded to the report of a large fight and gunshots around 7:20 p.m. There were also reports indicating 20-30 teens were engaged in the altercation.
The shooting and fight report originated in the 2300 block of Park Ln Southeast. A police spokesperson said one male fired a handgun above the crowd during the fight then fled the scene in a red sedan.
Police later located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle in front of a residence in the 1700 block of 9th Ave. Southeast. A 16-year-old boy from Rochester was identified as the suspected shooter and arrested on suspicion of the following charges:
- Felony 2nd degree riot armed with a dangerous weapon
- Felony reckless discharge of a firearm
- Felony possession of a weapon, person under 18
- Gross misdemeanor 3rd degree riot
- Misdemeanor 5th degree assault
- Misdemeanor disorderly conduct brawling
The teen was transported to the Anoka County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police also arrested 18-year-old Timberland Von of Rochester on suspicion of felony 2nd degree riot armed with a dangerous weapon and Misdemeanor disorderly conduct brawling. He was booked into the Olmsted County Jail shortly before 11 p.m.
The news release says officers served a search warrant at the 9th Ave. Southeast residence and recovered four handguns, three of which appeared to be ghost guns that did not have serial numbers.
Police say no injuries were reported from the shooting. The incident is under investigation.
