Rochester Police Arrest Felon Suspected Aiming Gun at Woman’s Head
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester Police have arrested a convicted felon suspected of pointing a gun at a woman's head.
Police Lt. Jen Hodgeman said officers responded to the report of an assault with a handgun. The call came in around 2 p.m. on Monday.
Hodgeman says the incident happened at a residence in the 4400 block of 22nd Ave. Northwest. The woman, who is a Rochester resident, reported that 29-year-old Quantrell Pena of Rochester pointed a gun at her during a conversation she was having with him.
The report indicates the woman’s account of the incident was corroborated by several witnesses. Officers shut down streets near the area of the call believing Pena was still in the area.
Police later learned Pena had left the area and found him near the Kwik Trip in the 300 block of 12th St. Southeast. Hodgeman says Pena was taken into custody without incident around 3:15 p.m.
The arresting officers did not find a gun on Pena during the arrest, Hodgeman says. Police booked Pena into the Olmsted County Jail on suspicion of felony domestic assault, felony second-degree assault and felony threats.
Hodgeman said Pena and the victim know each other. Court records indicate Pena was previously convicted of a felony violation of an order for protection, first-degree burglary and several felony-level drug offenses.
He is awaiting arraignment in Olmsted County Court.
