Rochester Police Officer Punched By Shoplifter
Rochester, MN (KROC AM) - Two people were arrested for shoplifting at a Rochester store Wednesday and one punched a police officer after being stopped outside the business.
Two officers were called to the north Walmart store around 8:00 pm after a man and woman were seen working together to remove tags from numerous items.
RPD Lt. Frank Ohm said the two left separately without paying for the items and the officers were waiting for them. Ohm said the woman punched a female officer in the chest while being arrested. The officer wasn’t hurt but her microphone was damaged.
Arrested were 25-year-old Mohamed Mohamud and 21-year-old Ikhlas Abdi.
The stolen items included food and clothing that were valued at just over $1,000.
